     This memorial website was created to remember Betty J. Winters who was born in Peoria, Illinois on February 3, 1922 and passed away on July 10, 2008. She will live forever in our memories and hearts.

     Betty J. Winters, 86, of Peoria, passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

     Betty was born in Peoria on February 3, 1922, daughter of Carl L. and Marguerite (Cook) Moody. She married Joseph E. Winters in February of 1953 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

     She is survived by her son, Kevin “Duck” P. Winters, of Peoria.

     Betty earned her Bachelor of Arts in music from Bradley University and was of the Presbyterian faith.

     She was employed as a sales associate with Byerly Music in Peoria for several years. She also gave private lessons in organ and piano.

     Betty enjoyed knitting and needlepoint, listening to Big Band music, watching tennis and golf and visiting the mountains out West.

     She was a very generous and big hearted woman. She always did everything she could for her son, Kevin.

     Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Clary Funeral Home in Peoria, with Pastor Mike Shirey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2008, at Texas Cemetery in Trivoli. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate.
